Party planning basics — We can accommodate weddings, wedding receptions, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, birthday parties, graduation receptions, family reunions, class reunions and many other events.

Some hints for planning:

  • After checking for available dates, a nonrefundable deposit is required to book any event.
  • Determine the type of event, and discuss in person and in writing what both parties expect.
  • Discuss wines to be served, the type of food, if needed, and caterer to be used. Consider if you will be serving appetizers, having a buffet or a sit-down meal, etc.
  • Do you want to rent the kitchen and bring in all of your own food? Do you have servers for this option?
  • Have your guests RSVP for an accurate food and wine count.
  • What type of music will be used?
  • Host couples should arrive at least 30 minutes before scheduled start time to greet guests as they arrive.

Host a wine tasting party

  • Decide if you want a theme such as Italian night, Greek, romance for two, a treasure hunt, etc.
  • Check for available dates.
  • Discuss wines to be served, the type of food, if needed, and caterer to be used.
  • Have your guests RSVP for an accurate food and wine count.
  • Match your music for the event to your theme.
  • Host couples should arrive at least 30 minutes before scheduled start time to greet guests as they arrive.

WEDDING DETAILS

Available areas include: tasting room, formal dining room, front porch, north deck, small south private patio and all vineyard areas. A $100 nonrefundable deposit is required to book a date. Remainder of payment is due one month prior to the wedding.

Rental fee: includes one area or room (example: tasting room only or outside only).

Rehearsal dinners: $150 plus tax for up to 2 hours. Anything over 2 hours is $50 for each additional hour or any portion thereof (this includes time for people to leave and cleanup). A 50 percent deposit is required.

Ceremony and/or reception: (Prices are for 3 hours, which includes photos, wedding and/or reception)

  • Cost for 1 to 100 guests is $250 for up to 3 hours. Anything over 3 hours is $50 for each additional hour or any portion thereof (this includes time for people to leave and cleanup).
  • Cost for 101 to 150 guests is $350 for up to 3 hours. Anything over 3 hours is $50 for each additional hour or any portion thereof (this includes time for people to leave and cleanup).
  • Cost for 151 to 250 maximum guests is $500 for up to 3 hours. Anything over 3 hours is $50 for each additional hour or any portion thereof (this includes time for people to leave and cleanup).

Note: The vineyard is at its peak and provides beautiful photography opportunities from mid-June through September.

Vineyard staff prices are as follows: prices are for wine bars only. We do not have wait staff available.

  • Up to 35 guests: 1 staff member and no additional fee.
  • 36 to 80 guests: 3 staff members is $45 per hour or portion of fee.
  • 81 to 150 guests: 6 staff members is $90 per hour or portion of fee.
  • 151 to 250 guests: 8 staff members is $120 per hour or portion of fee.

Cancellations: George Spencer Vineyard will not be responsible for acts of God, weather, weddings called off etc. The contracting party is responsible for all expenses incurred up to the wedding.

Seating: George Spencer Vineyard owns three conference tables and 12 patio tables. Additional tables and chairs can be rented at the contracting party’s expense.

Capacity: Patio seats 24 on north deck, front porch seats 12, formal dining room seats 8-10 and private patio area seats six. The covered patio includes three conference tables with 38 white lawn chairs and several benches.

Kitchen rental: Our kitchen features a glass-top range with five burners, two ovens, a warming oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, icemaker, dishwasher, trash compactor and garbage disposal. If you rent the kitchen, please clean up after your event, unless you make arrangements with management. Kitchen rental is $75 plus tax.

Contracting parties and/or catering services that provide chairs, glasses, dishes, etc. are responsible for clearing tables and kitchen area, removing food containers and other items immediately following the event unless other arrangements are made.

Caterers: You may hire the caterer of your choice or bring your own food.

Wine glasses : George Spencer Vineyard will be reimbursed $3 per glass for any wine glasses broken or missing. You may bring in glass or plastic wine glasses at your expense.

Coordinating event: George Spencer Vineyard will make additional arrangements for your group at your expense. We charge for long-distance phone calls, 40 cents for mileage and $20 per hour for planning and coordinating items such as catering, arranging extra tables and chairs for delivery, setting up extra tables and chairs, flower delivery, music, arranging linens/plates/eating utensils/glasses/cups, renting and arranging delivery of tents and setting linens/plates/utensils on tables.

George Spencer Vineyard wedding rules:

  • Half of the wedding fee is due upon blocking the date. Remainder of payment is due one month prior to the wedding.
  • By law, no one under age 21 (including bride and groom) may consume or taste alcohol. This includes wine. George Spencer Vineyard staff will serve all wine, and ID will be required for anyone wishing to consume alcohol. George Spencer Vineyard has the right to ask the entire party to leave if a minor is caught consuming wine or an adult is caught serving to a minor. There will be no warnings!
  • Dances are only allowed outside.
  • State law prohibits the use of any other alcoholic beverages on the property. George Spencer Vineyard wines and other wines may be served, as well as other beverages such as coffee, pop, tea, juice and punch.
  • George Spencer Vineyard wine and other wine may be purchased prior to the function and until closing of the tasting room. The facility closes at 10 p.m. for all functions unless arrangements have been made prior to your event. Guests may also purchase wine by the glass or bottle from our tasting room or from the room you rent during your function.
