Established in 1998, George Spencer Vineyard & Wine Tasting Room is one of Central Nebraska’s treasures, featuring internationally acclaimed Nebraska wines, a seven acre vineyard and tasting room east of Gibbon, Nebraska, in the Platte River Valley. Join us for wine tasting and vineyard tours, shop at our gift shop or have your next party or event in our elegant dining room.

We grow five varieties of grapes in our vineyards:

  • Edelweiss: American hybrid grown in the north vineyard, which creates a fruity wine with crisp acidity and medium sweetness.
  • Seyval Blanc: French hybrid grown in the south vineyard near Pawnee Road.
  • Traminette: A wonderful grape, also planted in the south vineyard, which creates fragrant and spicy flavors.
  • Brianna: A new variety developed by Elmer Swenson’s vineyard breeding program. It has a tropical aroma.
  • Marquette : A new breed just released from the University of Minnesota. It has Pinot Noir and Cabernet in its genetic background.

You can see the fruits of our labor in beautifully ripened clusters of grapes each fall. Each variety is handpicked. Harvest begins in mid-August and runs through September. Once the grapes are picked, they are shipped by refrigerated truck to Cuthills Winery in Pierce, Nebraska, for fermentation and bottling.

Our tasting room is open from February through December from 12:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Thursday through Sunday. We are closed in January.

In our gift shop we offer a collection of landscape, wildlife and pet portraits from Steve Ninegar, crane portraits from Jeanne Griffith and Bobby Moss. We also showcase work from Bobbi Cline and Barbra Vannoy. We showcase jewelry from My Own Boutique and Delora Hall from Pine Meadow Creations. Wine bottle holders from Keith Stubbs and wine trivets from Ross Wright round out our collection. We also offer a variety of many unique wine related gift items as well as a selection of wines from other wineries across Nebraska.
